Additional Wednesday Walks – Autumn 2017

Kindly note that there will be the four additional Wednesday walks during the Autumn season, two in November and two in December.

November

8th November: Mqabba, Hal-Millieri, Zurrieq, Qrendi, Mqabba (Scenic, historical and geological)

From the centre of Mqabba, we walk to the Hal-Millieri area (Chapel of the Annunciation and Chapel of John the Evangelist). Our tour will then lead us through rural farmland to the outskirts of Zurrieq, then on to Qrendi along beautiful coastal landscape. Above il-Maqluba, we visit the Chapel of St. Matthew and a small Chapel very close to it. From there we walk back to Mqabba Parish Church.

Duration:              Approximately 2 to 3 hours 

Rating:                  Easy to Moderate with some inclines

22nd November: Zurrieq, Hal-Far, Safi, Zurrieq (Scenic, historical and geological)

An interesting tour that will take us first to the Xarolla Windmill and the church of St. Agatha close by at Zurrieq and then to Tal-Baqqari, where we can see the ruins of an old Christian church. From there, we walk to Hal-Far with its

December

6th December: Zabbar, Xghajra, Smart City, Kalkara, Birgu (Scenic, historical and geological)

From the centre of Zabbar, we walk via Xghajra (Batterija tal-Grazzja and park, seaside and promenade) to modern Smart City. After a break, we ramble through Kalkara (Santu Rokku) and see the Commonwealth War Graves and the Capuchin Convent and Church. We leave Cottonera at Notre Dame Gate and head back to Zabbar Parish Church.

20th December: Attard, Lija, Mosta, Ta’ Qali, Attard (Scenic, historical and geological)

From the centre of Attard, we walk to the outskirts of Lija where we visit a very nice Chapel with a garden. After this, our tour leads us through fertile farmland to Mosta and later to the famous Dome of the town. A short break near this church gives us some time to see and feel the life of this urban place. We return to Attard via Ta’ Qali.
