One of the ways in which the Ramblers’ Association promotes the protection of the environment is through raising awareness of our natural, historical and cultural heritage. In fact, walk leaders will often stop for brief explanations of interesting features on the landscape, and some walks will specifically be designed with an educational aspect in mind.
Besides this, the association has in the past also collaborated with schools in order to organize visits to the countryside for young students. In our opinion this provides the young with much needed exposure to our natural heritage. Such contact helps to instill in them an appreciation for our environment and the need to protect it.
Finally, the organization also organizes public talks from time to time in order to present certain topics of interest to the general public. These talks provide a means to educate the public on the problems our environment is facing and on the best way to tackle these problems. In addition, a number of talks of a general interest are also held, these normally being of a cultural or historical nature.
